Mayor Martinez Ferrada had committed to increasing the CAM’s budget to $30 million by 2028.

REPAIRE welcomes the budgetary directions announced in the 2026 Budget by the new municipal administration. The planned investments reflect a greater recognition of the structuring role of arts and culture in Montreal’s development and influence.

The following announcements are noteworthy:

  • $2.5 million granted to the Conseil des arts de Montréal, for a total budget of $24.4 million
  • $2.5 million earmarked for libraries and cultural centers
  • $1.2 million to support festivals and events, including those located in more remote neighborhoods

In addition, several other measures announced will contribute positively to Montréal’s cultural ecosystem, including:

  • the creation of an East Office
  • a $4.7 million investment as part of the Downtown Strategy, for a total of $14.7 million
  • $7.4 million allocated to commercial development corporations (SDCs) and commercial arteries outside SDCs contributions to phase 3 of the Pointe-à-Callière museum
