We learn that regarding culture, the SODEC budget will be $63 million over 5 years, while that of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec will be maintained following its consolidation in 2025-2026. There is no mention of festivals, particularly smaller ones that were hoping for additional funding.
Concerning culture and education, measures involving school trips to cultural venues as well as the Culture in Schools program will be maintained with funding of $119 million over 5 years.
For REPAIRE, one of whose main concerns is improving the socioeconomic conditions of artists, the preservation of the Culture in Schools program budget is a relief, insofar as for several generations of artists who bring culture into schools, this will continue to provide them with income and the opportunity to remain active in their profession.
